I have a Titanium bracket that I need to Tig to a section of mild steel.
Is it possible to join these metals?

My wedding band is titanium, and it has a small bead of weld spatter (carbon steel) imbedded in it that I could not remove, even with a small chisel. I finally filed it smooth.
I suspect, therefore, that the answer to your question is yes. I await an answer from someone who's done it, or at least has knowledge of it. I'm curious as to the filler rod.
On the main site, you can address this question directly to Jody. He usually responds within a day or two.

I'm sure you can weld Titanium to mild Steel but not with a conventional type of welding. Friction Welding would be the most likely case. A buddy of mine machined a part for the International Space Station and told me it was Aluminum welded to Titanium. He said the program was a real pain to write with all the different speeds and feeds. I never saw this part but believe it was true. I'm no Metallurgist but I'm sure the two different alloys need some very extreme conditions to except each other.
So Brian, I'd say drill some holes and bolt it on...
