This is one of the "projects" my instructor had us do in school for OFW. It gives you outside corner joints, lap joints, fillet welds and more. When done those, you can always do some padding so you don't waste, and padding at a variety of angles/inclines. You could make it with metal and thickness of choice to practice on what you need. Thoughts?

BTDT . . . 7018 overhead not so bad. 6010 . . . that stuff is alive. It will find it's way UP a long gauntlet glove while welding overhead, DOWN through every single nook and cranny, sizzle in your ear while attempting to ruin your chances of procreating at the same time. I may be green, but i'm not THAT green lol. We didn't have these to do overhead, it was all pressure plate, running beads, and CWB practice overhead. Overhead made my leathers finally look worn, claimed about a dozen pairs of laces on my boots (before i finally covered them with an old glove, then invested in boots with metatarsal guards), and branded me with a few lifetime "welding tattoos".

Despite what I was taught, I refused to tuck my shirts in after my first experience. If I'm around machinery, it's a different story where safety is a factor. Otherwise, it being tucked in just channels it where I definitely don't ever want it!

I, sir, was in overalls, zip done up to neck, long sleeves, long pants, leather skull cap etc
Had I had a belt on, I'd probably have 2 belly buttons now.
They can make a bulletproof vest, but they still haven't cracked a spark proof welding outfit.
