Little sifter screen repair for a product feeder. I ended up cutting the old piece out and welding in a new section. Not the coolest thing I do but I do a lot of these based on vibration damage....the wire mesh is .090". They have to be welded sanitary with no crevices.

Made a cart to hold all the parts to a labeler at work to prevent damage. I made one a year ago and damage is own 98% just have to cap somethings off and do the finish work.

That should work nice! A lot easier to grab that is for sure ...

Is the Mill up and running?

Thanks, yes it's all set up. Cosmoline all cleaned off, oiled, re-greased, trammed. Getting to know the machine. Matt at Quality Machine Tool in Pittsburgh has been a big help. I started doing a few things with it. I milled flats on the shank of all my import Shars boring bars. Faced all my big Alum chill blocks . Hoping to get a machinist buddy down here to get me going better ! The speed wheel works pretty good. It's weight gives it some inertia like a fly wheel...so opening/closing goes faster. Threw some paint on it...and since it's the only American made thing on the whole mill I threw the little flag on it ...lol . Here it is on the mill .

Ace, nice setup. Once you have used a speed handle on a mill vise, it's pretty had to imaging not having one huh? I share your opinion of Matt. Got my 1440 lathe from him and am very happy with his machine and service.

Yep . The only problem I have found with a mil is that once you have one, you want a bigger one ...and a lathe too $$$

ain't that the truth! My rule on that:

Give a person a tool, they can finish a project. Give that same person a reasonably equipped shop and they will forever be one tool/machine away from starting yet another project.

Was an old vessel we used for some special Passover items we make at work.

My hasty "make sure the new machine can weld at 210 amps on AC and 5 on DC" tests. Did a poor job cleaning the aluminum which was also junk from coexisting with steel scrap for a few months. For almost an inch there (all together) it doesnt look too bad.

I bought a wrecked car a few months ago with the intentions to turn it into a race car. Well, my daily driver caught on fire so I had to whip the project into shape in short order.

What I started with.

In progress.

Done other than tweaking the headlight bucket on the driver's side a little bit.

First real try at the razorblade challenge I heard about on the welding tips n tricks podcast. 15 amps .04 lanthanted 20cfh using .035 mig wire for filler. That stinkin puddle is really hard to see. I turned my hood down to 6 shade and once I initiated the arc I realised I had set up way too far away.
