Hi guys.
I'm totally new to welding with basic MIG experience. I want to learn how to MIG and TIG steel, stainless and Aluminum.
I'm building a Hot Rod and a Boat and want to become a more proficient welder.
Does anyone know of anyone that can teach me in the Houston Texas area ?
I have called the local collages that offer welding classes but the cost is insane upwards of $18,000 and the schedule doesn't suit me anyway. I don't really need a full-time course just someone to help me with techniques and equipment set up.
Drop me a line if you can help.
Cheers.
Mike

Have you tried looking at Houston Community College? http://www.hccs.edu/welding/

They have a Welding Technology program. The in-district tuition is about $70/hr and the out-of-district tuition is $140/hr.

You could take the courses you wanted to take (with prerequisites). A three unit course would be $250 or $500.

HCC also has a "Continuing Education" program that's worth looking into.
