Just be aware, there's a fine line between "rubbing lotion on yourself" and "rubbing yourself with lotion..."
I think the guy who got all this started spends a lot of time doing the latter.

I talked this morning with the guy who offered me that job and there's really not any room for advancement there. It's just gonna be a learning experience and a stepping stone. I think that I'll use this opportunity to pay for a couple of tig certifications. My buddy's friend keeps on telling him that they open a lot of doors. That guy use to run a crew for Lockheed and was banging down over $4K/week, but he quit because he was gone for more than ten months out of the year. He works for GA Power now and makes something like $40/hr or at least that's what I'm being told. He sent my buddy some really nice photo's of socket welds that he did a couple of weeks ago and he seems to know his stuff.
What do you guys think about getting self certified and which certs would be most beneficial? I'm thinking that stainless would be one of them but I'm not sure what else to get other than an exotic metal and/or aluminum. I'm really good with aluminum and can edge weld 1/16" tubing to 1/4" plate, usually without blowing any edge back.
I do know that there is a place close by called Wilson's Welding that advertises on their website that all of their weldors are certified.
And before you ask.......I can't get certified in panties!
