I installed a switch ( bought from a welding shop for Miller 14 pin hookup) on the torch of my EconoTIG to eliminate the pedal. Strange thing happened.........while using it the welder puts out much less amperage than with the pedal. I used the switch setup and without changing anything switched to the pedal and all is well.....anyone have any idea what is happening here???

Some machines require you to set the max usable amps for the job via the machine (the torch switch needs to be set at max). This allows you to put the switch all the way to max and not blow you job away. Try adjusting at the machine whilst the switch is connected.
Other wise they have given you a switch with the incorrect pot value within the switch you might need a 0-10 ohm and it may have a 1 or 5ohm pot.

Cheers
