Have you ever tried flux coated ss tig 316 wire? I tried it had no way to purge where I was welding 1" ss pipe sch10. man this stuff was hard to use. still got some sugaring flux would jump right to your tunston!!! it was messy. any advice on this would be of great help. thanks William

If the flux residue is acceptable on the inside of this pipe, try using "Solarflux-B"

It gets good reviews among those who use it regularly.

Then, you can use the rod you're used to and still get the result you need.

I would like to see a good comparison of the two. I think it would be an interesting video for those that work in the field and can't always have a purge bottle with them. where I work we only use 316 sugaring is a big NO NO 304 &308 is a no no the acid will eat it up

I've used the flux coated TIG rod. Can't say that I like it, but it does work. Has to be kept in an oven according to the WPS we were working under.

yea it was not a pretty weld especially the bottom flux would drip on tungston. I would say that was one of the worst welds I ever made lol

We have flux cored tig rod in Aus, called TDX. I have a FB friend who is a pipe welder, and he uses it and like it.
