Looking around Instagram and the Internet I have found some sweet tungsten holders. It is like many projects in the welding field where they are customised in many ways and unique to the builder. Here are two that I have build, mainly for fun. The first is just 1" copper pipe and caps that I bushed in the end. The other is a copy of some I saw on the internet. I used 1/8" 308 SS filler cut in 7" lengths and a 1986 (birth year) quarter on the bottom. To make the "tube" out of the filler I rubber banded them around a pipe and fused the ends. I intend to brush finish this one as well. The next one I want is a billet alum one made by a good friends machine shop.
Anyone else have tungsten holders to post up so we can steal your ideas? I mean, be inspired by?

Jonathan, nice, and quite innovative.
I like the idea.
Will you decide to sort tungsten types into different containers?

Trackranger,
I might make a few more of the copper ones to separate different tungsten types. I am also considering a container for the short pieces but don't know what I will use yet.

I like them....I usually leave them in the plastic cases, but I would like a way to store all the short pieces since most times I'm using a short back cap.
I weld stainless, stainless and more stainless...Food Industry, sanitary process piping, vessels, whatever is needed, I like to make stuff.

Do I sense a Jedi light saber inspired design here ?Superiorwelding wrote:The next one I want is a billet alum one made by a good friends machine shop.
The stainless one looks great. Wouldnt some brass look really good on it too?

Jonathan,
You just reminded me that I forgot to follow up on the Instagram challenge. I use the Comando pin vise and it has the holder built into the top. It holds pieces that are cut in thirds or less, I like it. Not custom made but it's a nice tool none the less. Other than that it seems GreinTime gets to hold all my extra tungsten at his house.

I thought I'd add mine. This was an early TIG project for me, and I still use it. Built from 1/2" .049 SS tube and swagelock fittings, and the pocket clip is a bit of 1/8" TIG rod with the end balled.

Sorry it took so long to respond. The cap is a 1/4" or 3/8" NPT plug, can't remember which. It is what I had laying around.
