Here's a few repairs I took on recently - all done with the 1963 Airco :D
Used up to 230 amps, 2% thoriated 3/32" and 1/8", #7 gas lens and regular cup.

Case, head and a cover for a 72 Triumph 650, 5 speed.
Another engine case and the frame came in later - no pics of those, oops.

The case had some epoxy in the hole for a plug, cut it out and welded and blended.
Cover had a broken out hole, cut it off, ground a bolt down to hold open the oil passage, welded and blended.
Head was in a bad spot - cut the break down 3/4" and used it for a shelf - he will have machine shop finish blend it.

I inserted a ground down bolt to keep the oil passage open.

The head was difficult, crack was almost 1" down and the torch does not fit.
Cut the broken piece 3/4" down and used it for a shelf to build up on.
He will have the machinist dress it flush or I would have filed it down by hand like the case.

I cut the broken piece down 3/4" to build up from.
That hole only holds 5 ft lbs of torque.

Oil in engine parts.
Buy a bag of Sweet Martha's Choclate Chip Cookies.
When wife leaves bake engine parts at 300-400* for 3 hrs. remove parts to shop before she returns
When wife gets home hand her the cookies and say you tried to bake but burnt your batch , hand her the cookies/treat and quickly leave for shop.

Alternate method, old BBQ grill, oil migrates out with heat, most oils flash off above 300*

Thanks for the complements guys :D

As for as oil cleaning, I had him pressure wash the case and cover before bringing it over - no oily residue for me to deal with :)

The head was pretty clean, just some acetone and it was ready to work on.

Dishwashers work good as parts washers too :)

I used to be married, they get worked up over weird things...
Long time ago I had no shop, it was -20 deg F, and the chainsaw needed a head gasket.
So I fixed it on the kitchen table.
Don't know what the fuss was over it - heck, I even put down newspapers

My wife has actually said the words, "Would you PLEASE move this transmission, so I can take a bath?"

A related heads up: no reconditioning electrodes in the oven, either.

Least she could have done is left it in the tub and scrubbed it down for you while she was in there :D
