I built a cart for my new Alpha Tig. Used all scrap from around the shop and had an old metal cabinet laying around only spent $15.00 total. The first pic is my helper Thanks for looking.

Very nice recycling!
Well organized.
We had a topic on "share your shop-dog", and that's a handsome helper. One suggestion; Have an observer watch the dog while your hood is down, make sure he's not "fascinated by the pretty light"...
It's rare, but a dog that watches the arc shouldn't be in the shop while you're welding.

Don't think dogs get " arc eye " - used to weld in a yard with 2 German Shepherds - ( the big black not real friendly type that's left out at night to deter the pikeys ! ) - one of them watched welding all the time - never bothered it - difficult to get it out the way when working - I've set fire to it by accident while cutting with oxy ! - it lived to a good age without any welding related health issues !

As I said, it's rare. Dogs will play the "laser pointer chase", so an interest in light is possible.
It's no harm making sure.

And, sadly, there's little chance a dog will connect the discomfort of arc-eye with watching you, because the effect is delayed. Does he show symptoms like excessive watering/eye-boogers the next day?Legion wrote:My dog sneaks up on me welding and metalworking all the time. It sucks. I break an arc and he's standing right there watching.

Not yet. I normally catch it pretty quick or I hear him coming but sometimes he'll be standing there. I can only hope he doesn't look directly at the arc because it's shielded by my hands or by the work geometry or whatever. Luckily I do more short runs than long runs so it's normally just a few seconds before I notice him.
