Hey guys, been doing a frame for a friend and found that the old tubing
doesn't like 70S-2 0r 70S-6 filler wire all that much. The new 1020 DOM
is fine but the old stuff is like snap, crackle and pop! :o
But good ole 309 stainless is just fine.

I was just going to say that man, my dad had to use 309 to clean up porosity on the previous owners hard talk conversion on my brothers xs650!

I think he means " old school " - oxy / acetylene conventional brazing like they always used to build bike frames by hand - before Japanese robots learned to weld ! it gives good results in terms of looks / strength & spreading the load over a good area of tube so it's less likely to fatigue crack - often the old ways are still best !
