Hi guys, just a quick question. I have got a snatch pack of various tig parts to get myself out of trouble on-site. I don’t do a lot of tig on site so I carry about 5 x 309Lsi, 5x 316L, 5x 308L and 5x silicon bronze. And just cut up mig wire for mild Steel as needed. Like I said I don’t do more than emergency stuff on site. Can I put the silicon bronze in the same tube with the stains sticks, or am I really contaminating things.

I see no reason you can’t. If you are doing 304/316 work, be sure to wipe the filler down with Acetone prior to use to remove ANY contamination anyway.

I made up a TIG filler holder that has worked well out of PVC pipe. 4 90's, 4 Tee's, 4 Caps and stick or two of 2" sch 40 PVC pipe. Cut 8 "nipples" to connect the Tees and 90's in a ring, butting the fittings with the tees all pointing straight up, glue it. Cut 4 pcs of pipe long enough that when inserted into the tee the rod is just about flush with the top. Once that is done it will hold 4 different full length materials and you can just op the caps off when needed, Label the caps with a Sharpie. Of course this design can be expanded to fit the number of filler rod sizes and material. All self supporting.

Depends on the SS you work on. If your SS wire is stored in a container with steel wire it will contaminate it to the point your SS welds will weep rust marks. If that’s not an issue for your SS project then your all good.
