I just used dc and about 70-80 amps with a foot pedal.

Not much. Deburr and wire brush, wipe it and go to town. It gets hot so i cooled it in a bucket every now and then and brush again. It's actually not that hard. It wets out nice, unlike brass/bronze.motox wrote:i always wanted to try copper. what was your prep on the tubing?

They poured the basement walls at my house on wednesday and as a favour i repaired their chute. It had a nice layer of concrete i had to chip off.
The braided stainless wire wheel worked well to remove the encrusted concrete.
Over all it welded better than i expected.

Nice Simclardy, do you guys have black locust up there? I know there's a lot down in West Virginia, but didn't realize it was up in your parts as well. I guess you've eaten enough sawdust running your Alaskan today...

We have them! They are considered non native/ invasive. But for sil plates they are wonderful. The sawdust smells like cow crap. And yes i have been eating it!
