Tig welding tips, questions, equipment, applications, instructions, techniques, tig welding machines, troubleshooting tig welding process
Looking for some good or bad feedback on the multimatic 220.im not new to tig welding or mig welding I've previously used syncrowave 180sd's and Lincoln precision tig 225.i want to buy a new mig and tig so I figured why not the multimatic 220.looking for duty cycle feedback and how people like the functions and use of the machine.i know the duty cycle specs already but looking to see if anyone has pushed its limits and had issues or no issues.i don't plan to weld thick plate often so I don't assume any issues but just curious. Thanks all for your time!
I’ve got a 200 and a buddy the 215. Both have been completely trouble free. My 200 has seen plenty of full days of MIG, Flux Core and Stick use in job sites. I’ve never hit the duty cycle or overheat. I tend to run the unit on 220 on a job site whenever possible, but sometimes 110 is all you’ve got. Still not been a problem for a few hours of work.
If it ever dies, I’ll replace it with a 220 without hesitation.

If the 220 is the ac/dc tig multiprocess, I've used it a bit at the local CC. I found it to be a pretty nice inverter machine. A little bit hard arc start at super low amperage, but other than that the arc is clean. Welds aluminum fine. Pulse settings are also pretty standard. I haven't used or inspected the mig settings of the machine or ran it on stick mode. I wouldn't not recommend it.
Stock setting is the arc initiates at 20 amps, regardless of the welding amperage dialed in. Pretty standard for multi process boxes in my experience. Its not a Dynasty that's true, but it works great.bap_ wrote:A little bit hard arc start at super low amperage, but other than that the arc is clean.
Thank you bap_ for your reply. When you say you "wouldnt not recommend it" do you feel theres a better multi process machine or do you reccomend 2 separate machines?I'm not looking to start a full on fab shop just weeknd work for myself.
I would be happy to own one. I'm sure people would generally recommend buy two dedicated machines, one tig, one mig, but I can''t afford that. That being said if you look closely that could be an option for a similar price. Maybe an htp 220V and a powermig210?
I was meaning that there is nothing I've seen that would make me say do not buy it.

Why not a Pro Pulse 200 at at hefty discount instead of the PowerMig 210? HTP has a few of the older ProPulse 200MIGs that they received on their upgrade/trade-in program late last year that they are selling for $1600 with 1yr warranty. They are low on Invertig 221s though. No new units, just some used demo units for the time being. They would probably discount them too and still give you warranty. Great machines, I can vouch for them, lol.bap_ wrote:I would be happy to own one. I'm sure people would generally recommend buy two dedicated machines, one tig, one mig, but I can''t afford that. Just give them a call and see what they can do for you. If you get Heather/Christina/Peter/Jeff, tell them Oscar-from-Texas referred you! Maybe they can take off a extra 50cents or something if they are in a good mood!
