Welding Tips and Tricks

I've been clearing out my dad's garage and would like to get some info on this old General Electric welder model 6WK1831. It does work, but I know nothing about it. I have all the leads. Google provided me with nothing. Is it an AC or DC arc welder? Any guesses on what year it was manufactured? What would be a reasonable value? Pretty sure it would have to be a local sale as this thing weighs 350 pounds. Any info would be appreciated.

I don't have any real information for you but I swear I've seen that welder before. It was in an old arc blow video someone posted, the video looked like it was from the 50s or 60s. I'll do some looking and see if I can find it or if someone else knows of it please post link.

They really dont makem like that anymore.

From the video we can see it was made in 1954 and the power source is an ac machine.

Thanks for all the replies and info. I will probably hang on to it for a while since it was the first welder I learned on, as well as the first welder my son learned on. I'll keep digging for more info. Thanks again!
