Problems with undercut in horizontal position

I have been having a problem with undercut while in horizontal position the bead looks good its just a touch of undercut is present i am using a 7018 rod at about a 45 drag angle and insted of a weave using a counterclockwise circlular motion and im still having undercut im not sure why. Any thoughts are helpfull

fillet weld pretty sure if that sounds right i get groove and filet confused

If it looks like this, all you have to do with a 7018 is put the rod in and hold a nice tight arc. You don't need any manipulation with that rod, in that position. Search "welding tips from Bubba" for a good video

Also watch the top toe of the weld wash up against the vertical surface as you travel along the joint and make sure to slow down hang around a bit longer so that it can fill in and not leave undercut. I agree with the other about running straight stringers and leave the weave alone.

I tried using a diffrent angle and no weave and they really improved

I was working on that this week and my instructor told me to use no manipulation. To have a 5 degree work angle pointing upward and 5 to 10 degree travel angle. Really allow for toe to crown to fuse together while welding it. My bend test did not break.
