Most of my experience is with Tig welding. However, noticed 7018 rod hard to get running when using bobcat generator welder. Once the arc is striked and weld is started it seems like there is a hesistation or lag in the power and rod sticks up. Using 3/32 7018 rod. I work in a maintenance dept. there is no oven to store welding rod. Same rod works great on hard wired welders in shop. Also noticed no problems with 6011 or 6013 using bobcat welder. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Livewire.

If I recall, the Bobcat has a setting for auto-idle vs. run.

Try the 7018 with the machine in run. 7018's so sensitive to OCV, that the lag in revving may be causing your issue.

If this proves to be the case, expect to long-arc your 7018 for a second or two for the generator's rpms to stabilize when in auto-idle.
