I just got a 50lb box of 8018s for free was wondering if there's any difference than 7018s and how many amps I should run it at for just small fab work. (Smokers, grills, firepits..ect)

Zach, they run very similar to 7018. They're both low hydrogen electrodes and should be kept warm and dry.

Higher tensile strength by 10,000 lb. psi

180-300 amps DC

Try them around 200 and adjust up or down from there.

Zach,
I believe this will push the upper limits of your machine with that size rod. You might be able to do it, but not for long periods though.

I have burned a lot of 3/16 8018, they run good(for me) 240amps, DCEP.
In the flat on 1/2 filet's.
My 2 cents.
Get some pics of your beads up for inspection.
