Howdy, I’ve got a welding question for y’all,
I am building a cattle guard at my property and my materials are 2 3/8 oilfield pipe for my cross members and the runners are 5 1/2 in railroad iron. I will be using 5/8 rebar to scotch the pipe and weld to. My question is rod selection, I have a AC 225 Lincoln. The dimensions for the build are 12’ wide and 7’ long. Thank y’all for any suggestions

6011 or 6013 would be my choice. 1/8" rods max, probably 3/32"

if i understand correctly about the oil pipe then 6011 is what i would use. it just deals to dirt, oil, rust so much better.

6011 root pass, then 7018AC. That RR iron is going to need some preheat & the 6011 pass will do that if you come back quick with the 7018.
A cattle guard takes a h3ll of a beating every time you cross it with a load & no one slows down enough.
