Lap Joints - Thick to Thin

Gents,
Welding in a 3/8 C-notch onto my truck chassis, aka, going to lap some 3/8 over the chassis which is about 5/32.
Thoughts/concerns on the procedure for such a weld with dissimilar thicknesses and vertical and horizontal positions?
I'm using an AC/DC tombstone and planning on 6010 at about 90 amps.

I hope someone comes to back me up on this but I'd MIG it. 6010 just seems a little too much for the 5/32 chassis but it is all in how you weld it. Now I don't know much about mechanics and upgrading automotive parts but when it comes to welding structural thinner plate, MIG is good for it since it gets the right amount of penetration. I'd run it fast and hot and smooth in sequenced welds to reduce warping.
Maybe 6010 will do just fine for that application but I'd MIG it.

You run the bead mainly on the thick side and just kind of dip into the shteet as you go, kine of like a Z or C or whatever you want to use, but you won't be able to run it evenly, like right in the crack like you normally would.
I would TIG it if I could, I always do TIG over anything else, other than high volume mindless type welding.
