Welding Tips and Tricks

I am a old school stick welder and do a lot of stainless stick welding currently looking for a stainless rod recommendation to stick welding 304 SS to 316 SS any suggestions would be very helpful thanks Danny

Thanks Josh for the feed back I read the pages 34 and 35 several times but it's over my head I welded some 304 to electro polished with some 309l and it seemed to take no cracks my project is installing some 304 angle for legs on a stainless tank that is 316 stainless that has been electro polished on the exterior of the tank.

I use 309 and 308 both, when welding the s.s to m.s, as far as i have heard thats ok as long as you don't step down an alloy and you get penetrations.
