Amperage for 3/32 probably ok. depending on material thickness? eg. for vertical up using 3.2mm on say 12mm plate I would use from 117 to 135amps depending if root or capping. Main point is, hang around on the edges, let the filler metal do its job and jump from side to side. Think of the edges just joining/interlocking in the middle to form the bead.

If you get into weird angles ( i.e. Pipe at a 45 ) you'll find your weave timing is connected directly to gravity. And then holding at the edges is even more important. As a test try holding one side of your weave extra long till you think it's too long and see how the weld changes. Your can control what side of the pass will be thicker or thinner. If you plan on working on thicker material this becomes important for you filler passes.

My first beads with a stick welder!!!!! Bought a 140a unimig inverter and a few CIG 6010 and 6013 rods (3/32) a had a fiddle this morning. Prepping for my first stick work for a mate tomorrow.

Old 2mp phone camera as my Galaxy died......ill get some better photos of the work when i stop being a tightass and buy a new phone (its been a week and a half now, first world problems)

I was terrified of stick welding (ever since i started making trailers a year ago with a mig, i do the sheet fab and stitching). Held off for a year because of the stigma that stick welding is super hard. Im wishing I bought a little inverter for home a year ago now. I have been borrowing my mates transmig 250i...which is not easy to lug around.

I guess all the stick welding vids on weldingtips channel really helped out. I quickly realized a molten pool of steel is a molten pool of steel...don't know why i was so worried. You might see some more home projects from me now.

One of the places I'm allowed to take pics. Boiler house steam mains. They run 175# steam. It's 6 in coming from each boiler over to the header. I cut in 2 new valves and welded in slip on 300# flanges. Now we can isolate each boiler while the other still runs for production.
