Received this box of rods from a sales agent for a tool mfg company. I had ordered regular 6013 rods though. So I thought they were 7018. Doesn't say on the box. Only has ISO number and I'm not familiar with that.
I welded a bit on a loader bucket today and the weld would crack right thru the middle after a while.

A google search and some translation from Italian suggests these are hardfacing rods. https://shop.berner.eu/it-it/p/132432-e ... _id=132432

They are hardfacing rods. DIN8555 calls up more than 0.5% carbon and significant manganese content plus other possible alloys like chromium. Which explains your cracking beads.
Flat out like a lizard drinkin'
For hard surfacing rods they actually weld good! I had no problem with fusion or laying a decent bead. And I cannot say that they were more difficult to grind flat either...
I have a box of real hard surfacing rods and i went to take a look at the. They only say Supradur 1000. No Din codes or other codes. They don't weld worth a , almost have to long arc them. End up looking like bird crap... But when you want to grind them flat, sparks are deep dark red and you have a real hard time doing it!

we use hard facing rods on the crusher at our glass plant and the welds look like a crackled mess afterwards but boy does it last a long time.
shooting the $#!t is a lot more fun when you use hollow points (more splatter);)
