What size and type of rod would you run on 1/8 inch angle iron and why. You can run Ac or DC.

3/32" 7018, 80-90amps DCEP. (But if it was rusty or painted, I'd use 1/8" 6010 at the same current)

All day everyday, till I would get smart enough to buy a mig.
Just a couple welders and a couple of big hammers and torches.

Yeah the MIG would be much quicker and could go a prettier job on the finer stuff

Try them both and you'll see why

6010 3/32 or 1/8 or 7018 3/32 depending on how dirty it is or how you want it to look. Or how many amps you can run.
I have more questions than answers

The 7018 at 3/32 is my staple rod, you can do a lot with it - that's where I would start unless the material is really nasty

If your only doing 1/8 in angle you could probably get down around 60 amps if you have hot start.
