Hey guys I got this rod from a buddy who had about 5lbs of i believe 1/16" 7010-A1. I think it's a Lincoln rod mainly cuz it has three green dots on it in the middle kinda like my excalibur. But they were NOT in a labeled container. An I can't seem to find anything on a 7010-A1 this size....mainly just what current they run at. Any ideas?

Heres some info I found

And from Lincoln
Shield-Arc 85 E7010-A1 DC+ Need a reliable, all-position stick electrode? Here’s your electrode! Shield-Arc 85 produces a 70,000 psi, 1/2% molybdenum weld deposit for use on 1/2% molybdenum pipe steels and API 5LX-42 through X-56 line pipe.

A 7010 will run almost identical to a 6010.
In 1/16, I agree with Wes917, I'd start at 50, and adjust. Depending on the machine, I'd expect to adjust "down" toward 40 amps. The smaller the rod, the less our recommendations mean, as the differences in machines show up more in smaller rod.

Im still excited i scored these for free. I've never needed a 7010 for anything....YET. An 1/16" seems like a doubt able size for most stuff I do...But idk maybe i can at least play with em. What have you guys done that would require a small rod like that? Seems like with that small u better have a pretty tight fit up. So maybe for fun...if anyone has ideas of somethin to build or some kind of practice using these...let me steal your ideas! haha thanks

I run mine:
3/32 - 50-55 amps
1/8 - 75-80 amps
5/32 - 80-90 amps
I run on a crisp setting at +2 as well.
Hope this helps!

He has 7010 electrodes, not 7018.Tater wrote:Dry it in a wire oven or household oven before you use the 70XX electrodes.
7010's don't go in the oven.

As for the use of 1/16" xx10 rod, how about root-pass in small-bore (1" and under) socket-weld pipe?
That's the only place I've ever seen it called out, and the only place I've ever used it.
