If these bikes give you a reason to get up in the morning, you are a young man, and you can find a way to lay your hands on a TIG do it! The opportunities are limited only by your imagination. You've got the rest of your life to reap the benefits.
Ask a real welding supply for Hilco Brown. It's great for fence pipe and other thin crap.
No, I have no affiliation with Hilco other than the fact that my LWS has the full catalog and it's all they carry(Thank Gawd).

Is that a kind of rod? I have been working with 1.6 mm a lot lately and I reckon I have a pretty good system now. It involves about 100 amps and 2.5 mm rods, but I weld for a bit and then stop, let it cool and then weld again. So far so good.
Had a pretty shitty weekend - my wife's electric bike, my electric bike and my regular bicycle were all stolen from outside the house on Thursday night. The bastards must have scoped the carport out and learned that they needed to bring a 10 mm spanner. While we slept they undid the bolts on the brackets which the bikes were chained to and made off with all three bikes
I never welded over the tops of the bolts as I knew the landlord would want it removable... So now they have since been welded over, but I have no bikes to chain to it. I have started chaining my Blackbird to it though.
So I asked the landlord if I could build a security gate to at least prevent them from seeing all we have on offer in the carport. We'll still chain stuff down, but it makes it a little more private. They agreed to pay for materials, and since I'm out of work I had plenty of time.
I'm yet to learn how to deal with the distortion, but the welds themselves are so much better than my earlier efforts.

Couple more nice ones...
Should add - my electric race bike is still locked securely in the shed... with a bigger lock.
