Stick Welding Tips, Certification tests, machines, projects
I'm looking for an inexpensive, lightweight, dual voltage (110 or 220) stick welder that can be carried up and down ladders easily. It won't be used for anything heavy but it does need to be reliable. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
I bought the new Miller Thunderboult 210. I was looking for the same thing. I am very pleased with it. They also have the Thunderbolt 161, which is dual voltage. Hobart, which is a Miller company makes the same welder, just a different color-same specs!lukeo77 wrote:I'm looking for an inexpensive, lightweight, dual voltage (110 or 220) stick welder that can be carried up and down ladders easily. ESAB 161 and thermal arc 161 are both very good.
I have two of the ESAB machines at the school and the thermal arc at the home shop for portable work.
I've heard the cheap machines from Klutch at home depot work very well.
One member over on weldingweb bought one for the heck of it, said it performs very well.
The Razor weld 170 is also rated well. Made by Jasic if I remember correctly - well known worldwide company.

Normally I'd suggest an HTP Inverarc 200 TLP, but you said inexpensive and dual-voltage, lol.
I just recently added an amperage slider control to my water-cooled 50ft stinger, it's it's pretty cool to be able to control the amperage on-the-fly!
