Used a straight propane torch. It acts like a solder. Wets in nice but doesn’t build up. It’s more of a solder. It was promoted to me as a repair for aluminum refrigeration coil repairs or repairing copper to aluminum tube joints common in refrigeration. I’ll definitely give it a try on a real repair when the chance comes up.

I've tried a similar rod.(cheap and nasty) The problem I found that if you have an item of small size, it's easy to have all the solder that you've applied become molten again and fall apart. (eg: if you attempt to put more solder on the back of a piece.)

Yeah it’s definitely a solder and doesn’t like it when you try to build up a surface.
