I am testing this friday for my 1gf in both wire and stick and am a little concerned about my wire plate test. 3/8 " plate 1/2 " space 30° bevel with 1/4 " backing plate. Running a lincoln machine with straight co2 gas at 40 cfm at 27v 305 wire speed for both filet and grove root, increasing to 315 wire speed for the fill and then down to 25v for 2 piece cap. Have start stops in the 1st and 3rd coupon.
The problem is the roots still fail when bending any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Introducing yourself would help with your problems.

Thanks mate, we get a lot of people scoping for information without offering anything back.

Thought you'd like to know that I passed both my SMAW and GMAW tests today. Turned out I needed to increase my IPM to roughly 430 from 305...went well

Haha, nice work. Backed yourself and didn't need our help.

Yes and no it made me think about all the settings and realized that I needed more amps for better penetration. Now in three weeks I will be going for gf positions 2, 3, and 4 in smaw
