Exude Confidence in your Skills

Walked into work Friday morning and was instructed to take a dual-shield fluxcore welding test, 3G position only, groove weld with backing strip.

I hadn't touched dual-shield in over 2 years but had spent the past 2 weeks taking 9 different hardwire tests for the same company.

So, after setting up and saying a prayer to Ogun the Blacksmith, I did work...

I ruined my first attempt. Flowmeter on the gas bottle was broken and I ran out of shielding gas. So then the CWI told me I'd have to run 2 tests instead.

I couldn't have my cell in the booth with me while welding but did manage to take a few pics after my coupons were prepped and ready to bend.

I realize my grindmarks should have been lengthwise instead of across the coupon.

Boom! All coupons bent clean.

Also here's a pic of the 9 welding tests I took during the training phase.

AS36 1G with ceramic backing, 2G and 3G (face, root, side bends)
AS36 1F and 4F fillet welds (macro etch/break test)

46100 1F and 2F (macro etch)
46100 1G v-groove with ceramic backing (XRay)
46100 1G v-groove back weld (die penetrant)
