Welding Certification test Q&A and tips and tricks
I am taking a 3G inconel 718 3/8 plate beveled I think 30° test and the first time I did it my penetration was perfect and was slightly crowned but now I don't know why I'm getting suck back and or flat penetration. Why? I took my test at 65 amps with a gap of .100 on the bottom and .125 up top. Good strong tacks it's not closing on me.Jazzy 12 cup 35 flow and about 15 Purge. Most are using .062 filler wire. I have my choice of which diameter rod to use. Anyway I'd like to know if I do the lay wire technique like you do in your videos on the steel would that give me the same type of penetration with it slightly crowned on the back side? I was told that we're not allowed to do lay wire or walk the cup in this industry. But if it will help me pass my test that's all that matters. Any tip would help. Thanks Jodi
