Pushing the welding parameters of the amperage. Can the millermatic 220 weld larger than ¼ in stainless to 3/8? This miller is rated at 210 max amps.

sure, but if you do this you are really going to need stainless filler for best results, which means a different gas for MIG. 309L is probably the alloy of choice for the filler. Alternatively you could stick weld it with 1/8th inch 309L rod at about 90-100 amps (no gas required), or your could TIG weld it with 309L filler if you already have argon.
