Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone knows if metal cutting typically takes longer when using an oxy-mapp or oxy acetylene fueled torch in comparison to an oxy-propane fueled torch. (If so by how long typically)
Also does anyone have any idea if using an oxy-propane fueled torch creates less fumes while cutting vs oxy-mapp/acetylene?
Any info on using different types of fuels for cutting with respects to fumes/cutting times would be greatly appreciated!!!
Metal cutting - oxyfuel cutting, plasma cutting, machining, grinding, and other preparatory work.
Oxy/Acetylene burns at 5600* F and Oxy/Propane at 5000* F. So in effect, cutting times are faster with OA than OP. MAPP is hotter than Propane too, not as hot as Acetylene.
As for the fumes, Acetylene produces a good deal of soot if mixed wrong where Propane and MAPP far less so.

The worst and most dangerous part of the fumes from cutting is the vaporized metal from the actual cutting. This is virtually the same no mater what gas you use to cut it. Even plasma cutting will produce fumes even though your using electricity to start your cut.
I have more questions than answers
