I have my big screen hooked to an Apple TV box where I can search the weldingtipsandtricks channel. This way, I'm not stuck watching it on my confuser. I have watched countless welding videos by Jody and others on youtube. Jody's videos are the best by a long shot.

During the day, I mostly work with tree carcasses but enjoy melting metal when I can.

My current welder is a $200 HF lunchbox TIG/stick welder with no pedal. I have built some cool projects with it by using heat sink backing as seen in Jody's videos. I also have a buddy's Lincoln 100 transformer MIG and have done a little flux core but it's underpowered. I prefer the TIG because the welds have a better appearance and are always strong. As a teenager, I did a lot of Oxy/Acet welding and also had a Lincoln 225AC buzzbox.

I'm looking to upgrade my equipment to weld aluminum and there are many old and new choices. I thought I wanted a syncrowave but they're $2000 and up here in Cali and the new inverters seem to have more ways to control the arc.

Welcome WW.

Good to see another member here who is also into bikes...there are a few of us. There is a lot to be learned from the wise ones here.

I started on here prior to purchasing my machine (in the name of research...) and this forum has been my research portal ever since I started Tig welding, with a focus on aluminium. I've found it endlessly informative and am now finally at the stage where I am making solid, useful mods and repairs.

Trust you will have a similar positive experience.
