Hey guys. I own a small fabrication/welding shop near Huntsville, AL. I started welding in high school and really liked it. I've always been a gearhead so the two go hand in hand. I'm in my thirties now and still welding. We do MIG, TIG, and Stick in the shop. I also have a CNC plasma table so we cut out a lot of stuff for people as well as in house. We also do some manual machining. I have a bridgeport and an 18" lathe.

Welcome, griff,
We have several machinist/welders here, and they are the reason the "Metal Cutting" sub-forum exists, though most of the recent posts relate more to cutting for fabrication rather than carving metal on a mill or lathe.

Welcome! I'm interested as well. Think the next addition to my shop needs to be a mill or lathe. Either or both.

Thanks for the Welcome.
Once you have a mill and lathe, you'll wonder how you did anything without them.

Both my dad and my uncle are machinists by trade I grew up around and in a few shops so I know what I'm missing. I think this makes my desire for a mill and a lathe even worse.
