Hi, my name is bob and im new to the forum. Ive been kinda sandbaggin for a while, learning some cool tricks though. So I thought I'd get into some of the conversations. This forum definitely has some true talent involved, hopefully I can learn some more tricks and bring something insightful to the table.

Right, well actually im a carpenter/millwright. Started out as a union carpenter fifteen years ago, and the rest is history I guess. I started welding at work a couple years ago, I am aws certified 3g on3/8 plate, in training now for nysdot certification in the 3g position so any tricks or tips to help pass a 3g X ray test would be greatly appreciated.

I should have kept my off-color remark to myself in the introductions page...
Sometimes my filter doesn't engage until my mouth is finished.
We actually have a couple other welders here who are or were industrial carpenters, as well as commercial/residential types.
You'll find friendly help to any questions you have. I may ask you a few about this NYSDOT qualification, as I've worked for years on cryogenic tankers and have only needed certification for inner vessel repairs while being qualified to retest/recertify and generally inspect them for both U.S.and Canada. I've designed and built sub-frames for them without a certification requirement, so I assume this is an NY-specific thing.

I think I have a great sense of humor, I had a nice chuckle myself. The test im working on is exclusively a new york state qualification. It will qualify me to work on state projects, there are only three carpenters in our local that hold this card, the education is paid for by our members, sounds like a no brainer. I feel like im getting close skill wise, ill see if I can figure out how to post pics.

There are a couple of topics under "How to Use the Forum" explaining picture posting.Woodbutcher wrote:I think I have a great sense of humor, I had a nice chuckle myself. If you still have trouble, PM me, and I'll try to take you through both methods.
