Welding Tips and Tricks

Hello i've been a member of a lot of forums through the years and usually never made an introduction post, However reading the forum rules and policies I am doing so to have my first post approved. Actually i think that's a very nice rule and seems as this is the best way to have that done.

Anyways i sort of jumped into the welding world very quickly, started as a want to buy a tig welder to get into fabrication, after all with the money i payed out in labor at the time i could have bought a tig welder lol. then got lucky and stumbled across a way to get a grant to go to school it was a fast track program and without ever welding a day in my life i certified in aluminum and stainless tig in a matter of 5 weeks. since then i have purchased a tig welder (HTP Invertig 221) and have started this learning process and pretty well in over my head so hopefully i can turn that around within the next year as i'm pretty deep in. mainly just looking to be very skilled in automotive fabrication turbo manifolds intercooler piping exhaust ect. and long term i think it would be great to get into chassis fabrication. There seem to be a ton of people that do this in my area however no one really specialises in that one specific thing so its hard to get small jobs done as not only do they fabricate they also take on complete builds ect and to be honest most of the fab guys around here are so stuck up you really cant talk to them even at the local welding supply houses, hoping the whole welding community isn't the same way, Every one has to start somewhere.

I have to confess, the "first post approval" originally had nothing to do with how tactful or professional or serious anyone was, and it's not used that way with the exception of rude posts. It was (and still is) a way of blocking auto-spammers, since our members are not particularly interested in UK kitchens or discount Ray-Bans.

It has worked to our advantage, though, as it seems to reduce the number of "one-post wonders" by requiring a (stunningly small) commitment of time to joining.

I think you'll enjoy your time here. We're a community serious about welding, but not so serious about ourselves. We thrive on shared knowledge, and everyone here is willing to learn something from anyone willing to share.
