Hello from China

Live and work in Qingdao China, beautiful coastal city and if one can overlook all the shortcomings, this place is heaven. Now the hard core part, some 10 year ago used to live in Perth Australia and needed a TIG welder, went to a dealer in Welshpool got myself a TIGMIG 200 paid some AU 3500 for it and was told is made in Germany, moved my business to China (for obvious reasons) and towed along the TIG and other machineries, bad move since I could have brought all in China at ¼ of the amount. I have been using the machine for quite some time manly for welding specialized fuel tanks and some aviation related parts, never had a problem with the TIG while welding alloy. Recently I had to make up a turbo exhaust and prepared all the cuts, trying to tack the SS and no matter what setting it just burned the metal. Called the agent in Australia, his advice was to go fishing and use it as a sinker asked him if there were any agents just to tell me now the machines is actually made in China..! They fibbed me then and no real advice how to fix the problem. Tried to find some info on the welding boards, but no real answers. Never the less, life goes on and about to purchase a Jasic WSME-315 E163 for RMB 4500. Reading the reviews, those having China phobia the machine is crap and for others best think after sliced bread. I would appreciate is someone here can give me an answer why the machine burns the metal and what you guys thing of the new purchase or an advise a better machine in China..

Sorry to hear of your troubles. One degree of separation - a film company I work with often now regularly works with QTC Qingdao, as Adelaide South Australia and Qingdao have an active 'sister state/province' relationship.

As for China phobia...while I'm sorry to say I can't advise on fixing your problems, I have a Metalmaster Elite 215 (Tig/Stick/Plasma) that I understand originates from China and I couldn't be happier. Great performance, never misses a beat, 5-year warranty and amazing dealer support.

Welcome. Post some pics of what it's doing it might be something simple. I do remember seeing an auction on eBay for a company on the west coast of the US that claimed to be willing to rebuild any weld or plasma machines. The add had some phone numbers I think for people to call and question them. Maybe they offer tech support.

Welcome to the forum.

I looked up the Jasic unit you mention, and see that it uses Mosfet electronics. Some Jasic competitors, also made in China, make much of the fact that they use IGBT electronics as an improvement / alternative to Mosfet, saying Mosfets are better suited to "light" or home use.

Well , we are neighbors, originally Germany lived long time in Australia (miss the beaches) and now China freezing (-8) my rear off. I was waiting actually for some feedback but could no longer wait and purchased the Jasic WSME-315 E163 and the water cooler all up with a free automatic welding mask and a raft of consumable for under the USD 900. The old machine served me well for nearly 10 year and I reckon if the new machine last 1 year will paid its self this is one of the benefits living in China.. all cheap and sometimes good quality. Curiously, the same machine in the west is warranted for 5 years and China one only gets 1 year.
