I'm an old new welder with an extensive interest in metal working. My metal working goes back more than 60 years when I learned to use my Dad's lathe, mill, bandsaw, and other equipment (to somewhat date myself, Eisenhower was President). That's when I first learned to weld with Oxy/Acetelyene. Later in college I learned how to stick weld. I've worked in fossil and nuclear power plant construction supervising all kinds of fabrication including x-ray quality welds.
About 20 years ago I inherited my Dad's machine shop, eventually added a couple MIG welders and a bunch of fabrication equipment. A few weeks ago I added a TIG welder and, once again, I'm challenged with a new technology.
Now I'm working for me (I think it's called retirement) - but I'm busier than ever doing a bunch of stuff in my shop that I want to do, when I want to do it (the best part of retirement).
I veiw life is a never ending learning curve and that's why I'm joining this forum. Rather than playing golf or going to a senior citizens center, I'm in my shop making stuff - running into problems, figuring out solutions and having a BLAST! As Long as I can pick up a welding torch, I'll be making sparks.
I'm looking forward to learning a lot about TIG welding from you'all.

Good on ya, Bob, and welcome! I like the learning curve idea.MTBob wrote:I veiw life is a never ending learning curve and that's why I'm joining this forum.
