Just joined the forum, hope to learn from you guys. I am into machineing and general shop projects. Have a nice shop with the normal machining equipment. As for welding, I have had several stick welders over the years, and not really proficient with any of them. Just the typical cracker box type general welding. I have a LTec Migmaster 250 which I bought new about 20 years ago. Still works well and it has a 60% duty cycle at 250 amps, which is way more machine than I need. Also have acetylene set up . Wanting to learn tig soon and looking to picking up some hints and suggestions from the guys here.

Thanks, Sandia

Welcome to the boards, Sandia.

I had just a stick machine for years and never really picked up great skills...just enough to blast out a repair on a gate or fence support here and there.

For me, there is so much in the way of sparks, fumes and carry-on with stick that I never really settled in to practise. I kinda just lit up, got the job done and was glad when all the fuss was over.

Loving TIG by comparison. Quiet, no fumes, I feel like I can concentrate on what's happening down at the puddle without all the fireworks and hurry.

There are some real welding masters on here (not me!) so ask lots of questions. We're all here to learn.
