Good to meet you

Hello,

I am an AWS CWI working for a large locomotive and mining equipment manufacturer in Pennsylvania. I have almost 10 years experience in welding. 7 years formal education and 6 years in the school of hard knocks (some of those years overlap). I started out doing repair welding on heavy equipment components for the western PA coal mining industry. Since then I have gained my Associates Degree in Welding Technology and I am very close to a Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering Technology. I fancy myself an O.K. Welder and a darn good Inspector/Engineer. I love all things welding and I don't have many people around to talk shop with so that is why I joined the forum. I look forward to having some good conversations with you guys and gals and I look forward to learning from you all. Hopefully I can help you all learn a thing or two as well. I will be spending alot of my time in the Certification section of the forum as that is my area of expertise.

Thanks,
Jesse

Jesse,
Welcome to the forum! Looks like you will have quite a bit to add to our community. Please feel free to dig in the Certification section and dig up some threads you can help answer, no matter how old.

Jesse,
Welcome to the forum first off. It's nice to see more people from western Pa. here, there's a handful of us on here already and the more the merrier. (New Kensington area for me)

My first ever paying job as a welder was welding roof jacks for a local mine. Most in my area are now closed and their land and building (if still standing) are being used for something else.

I'm sure you will be able to contribute as much or more than you receive here.

Len
