How's everyone doin'?

Wanted to introduce myself.
I am a welder in the Army. I joined last year as a welder with no real experience. I worked at a factory for a year and a half as a mig welder on an assembly line. The majority of the welding was done by automation. The machines I used were already set up so most of what I did was point and shoot tack welding. I did learn a little about mig welding with my time there, enough to say that I wanted to learn more.
Ten weeks is the only training I received which was only long enough to learn the basics of the basics. I'm hooked though, so I think I made a great decision. I learned the basics of oxy/fuel welding and cutting, stick welding on steel, mig welding steel and aluminum, and tig welding stainless steel and aluminum. I also learned the basics of plasma cutting, exothermic cutting, and air arc gouging. Fun stuff!
I also received another ten weeks of training as a machinist, using the lathe and vertical mill. I haven't been afforded the opportunity to exercise that training as I don't have those tools in my shop. I really don't have much in the way of tools in my shop. I have a Lincoln Idealarc R3R-400 and a Miller Trailblazer 301d (for when I go mobile).
Anyway... I'm blathering on.
I look forward to getting my second education here and perhaps sharing my experiences with you all.
Hoods down and weld 'er up!
