Hi all, have been a member a while and thought I should make an introduction and to say what a great place this is!
I've been watching, absorbing and hopefully learned one or two things during my time as a lurker here ;)

Short about me,
Hobbyist that welds whatever comes up: mild steel, SS, Alu, copper, magnesium. Still have many hood hours to go before I will be happy with the looks of the welds but they are usually sound (except from a poor attempt repairing a rock drill...)

Got interested in welding at young age watching dad's uncle gas weld tubes (plumber). Later working during summer holidays I got into MIG doing light fabrication works and some fixturing. Was introduced to TIG at the same place in the late 80's. That was automated welding so my part was mainly to grind and replace the tungsten when necessary.
A finnish pipe welder thought me the basics of TIG welding later in the mid 90's but I didnt got into it until 2005 when I bought my first TIG, a french made GYS. Had it until last fall when the AC board failed. Then bought a china made Parweld, seen that one under several different names but I assume they are all made by the same company.

This is me, thanks again
/Anders

Welcome, Anders,

There are several here with stories similar to yours, especially the "interest at a young age".

I assume, when you said "finnish pipe welder", you meant, "from Finland"? We have one of those here... 8-)

I'm going to have to look more closely at that welder. It appears quite capable and you seem pleased with it.

Yeah, from Finland but unfortunately not the same guy. My friend left us way to early.

Heres a link to specs on my tig:

So far I'm very pleased with it. Have used better machines but then the price tag was more than the double.

Looks very much like this one, right?
