Hi Guys
New guy from Pa. I've been watching the tips and tricks and found this forum. I have a hot rod shop and do my share of welding. I really need to focus more on my aluminum. I will be doing more 3003 H14 , and most will be but welded. Now I'm not having to much problem with that, but working on keeping it from cracking. Most of the problems come from after I wheel or power hammer it seems to crack next or sometimes right on the weld.

Well off to read as much as possible :)

ProMetalShop,
Welcome to the Forum! Read until your hearts content! If you are forming/hammering on your alum and you are using the TIG process, you will have a lot of trouble with cracking. I would suggest to gas weld the joints.
Here is a video featuring Ron Fournier on why and how to use the gas welding process.

I've been gas welding forever probably since the early 70's, however I would like to get the tig to work. I get some welds I can wheel and planish and others simply split. But I'm stubborn, I'd like to make this work. :D
