Added 4' behind the cab and added 8' to the back I always half lap when I stretch a truck
I bevel all seams in frame and in the half lap . I try to build in way that only the guys at the scrapyard will know its been stretched . All welds are ground down or hidden on the inside of the frame with a crossmember . I still struggle trying to make a nice vertical up with the mig but there's aways 7018 they always have to much crown or under cut on the edges . Should I even be trying ? I have a friend in a shop that all vertical up work is done flux core .

MillwrightRWG,

I appreciate that kind of work. One of my earliest jobs was stretching cars into limos, at an approved Ford QVM shop. Making it so only the junk man can see it is an art.
