Hi,
Taking up welding as a hobbyist. Wanting to get a bit more serious than just making a bracket or something around the house.

I have a Forney 3-1 multiprocess that I picked up at a pawn shop. Was only wanting a mig, but the stick might be good for fixing an old car frame and the tig seems like it might be useful for the body panels.

Anyhow, good to be here. Looking forward to learning some stuff here and hopefully contributing.

Salute!

Welcome. Don't forget that stick welding can do bigger stuff at the comparable amps than mig. Eg, 140 amps on the stick will weld almost anything, but a 140 amp mig will struggle at anything thicker than 4 or 5mm.

Thanks Mike. Good to know. I found a calculator for mig settings. Gonna try and find a good one for stick welding.
