Hello all,
I've often searched through the rhe forumsbut havent made an account til today. I had been looking and looking for a miller ac/dc thunderbolt for sometime as i readbit was a good machine to learn on. I finally found one butbi can't seem to get everything working. The dc port jack seemed to be missing. I planned on moving the a/c port over until i got some cash together to get a replacement i haven't done it yet.
I cant get my lead (only have 1) to connect. Since i bought the rig used im not sure its the right lead. I did clean it up real good and took a low pressure air hose to the inside. I noticed the ground for the d/c wasnt right.
I guess this is what i get for bargain hunting. I still have to run a 220 to plug into and still need PPE so im have several areas i need to address before i can start welding.

Welcome . The thunderbolt has simple push in connectors. One lead won't get it working

Yes i know i need 2 leads. And i figured they push in. I just cant get it to push in. Ill try to post the pic again. Not sure why it wont show. The lead i do have just doesnt fit in the plug jack.

The connector in the picture on the cable is a dinse, I can’t tell what size but definitely that style. From looking at some old pictures on the google I’m pretty sure you need cables with a tapered post and no little bump out. Check with a Miller rep, they might be able to get you replacement ends that will fit your machine. But from the looks of it it’s going to need some tlc from someone who’s got some electrical experience,

My father in law found a Miller AC thunderbolt at a garage sale, paid $40 for it. It had the same style push in connectors. I got some panel mount female dinse connectors from my LWS, took the old style out, enlarged to holes so the new Dinse connectors fit. Took me less than an hour all told. Very simple to do. I believe I paid $45-$50 apiece for the panel mount connectors.

It was almost a year ago now, sorry I can't find the pictures of how it worked. But was very simple to do.

As Josh and Jay stated, you can go to the lws and get what you need, or you can check on craigslist for your area (?) and MAYBE find what you need.
