Hello my name is Richard. Been welding for 12+ years tank welding aluminum and then structural steel welding. Most recently working as a Boilermaker. I do some of my own projects to stay busy. Looking for help finding an appropriate generator to power my ESAB 205 ic welder for some field work.

Welcome aboard, Richard. I don't know a lot about using a generator for powering welders. Perhaps telling us which welder you are using, everyone could help you out.

crap !! my bad, got distracted while hitting the keys. Oh well ... I have read that a "clean" power source is very beneficial to the inverter type machines. Way too much power is just a waste but you'd want a bit more than enough. Heading to the nap room, 2 a.m. comes too quickly for this old body.

Hey thanks for the reply. I’m currently running or was running an ESAB 215ic welder. Great compact machine. I’ve ran all the reprocesses on it. MIG (hard wire and flux cored inner shield and dual shield) TIG and stick as well. But I need a generator to run it in the field.
