Hello to all members and admin

I have been welding for over 25yrs all self taught. No certs etc etc. Trial and error
I started with oxy/acet and stick years back and have experience with Mig/Mag and DC tig.

I have joined the forum hopefully to gain some tips and guidence etc as i want to progress into ac/dc tig welding.

Presently i reside in the North West Indian Himalayas where i build the occasional custom motorcycle along with various other metal, wood etc fabrications and creations

I am about to purchase my first ac/dc unit and could really do with advise.
Previously i have always purchased machines with plenty of head space on them in the theory that a machine running at half its capacity shouldn't be as taxed as one running on its limits. So far this has worked well !
Anyways glad to be here and looking forward some chat

Many thanks
Graham

Good morning, Graham and welcome from Pinnacle, North Carolina, USA.

As a teenager my Dad imported bicycles from India (from Tube Investments, part of the same company as Raleigh in England) and we spent some time there, mostly Mumbai back when it was Bombay and in Madras along with a little in Sri Lanka. I don't think we ever got north of Delhi.

I'm retired and I'm a hobby welder and part-time climbing instructor here, mostly for youth groups. We have some challenging climbs in North Carolina but our mountains wouldn't make foothills in your neck of the mountains.

I'm not the one to be giving advise on machines to you. I suspect that a new thread with a title that references what you are wanting to know and some info about what voltage, cycles and power supply amperage you have to work with would help.
