I've already made a few posts, but I guess it is polite to do an intro.
I'm a semi-retired wildland firefighter, a dabbler and tinkerer by nature. I love to know how things work and making stuff. They were just starting to shut down shop classes when I was in high school so I was able to get some time in wood shop, metal shop and auto shop which helped to feed the interest. My parents were into crafts and my Dad is a DIY type himself, which is where I learned a lot about home repairs. I built up a basic collection of woodworking tools over the years, and have been at that for some time.
A few years ago I got into machining with a mini-lathe and mill, which was followed by larger ones. Now I've decided I need to learn to weld. I've been interested in learning for quite some time but finally have the time to do it. I took an intro to welding stick / oxy-fuel class, and will continue on to take MIG and TIG, although not waiting on the classes to start making stuff.
I have a very small shop, so I bought a Miller 220 AC multi-process machine to give me everything in as small a foot print as practical. I recently found the WT&T videos on youtube and have been watching them as often as I can, which then led me here.
I own a 110 year old house in the redwoods of Northern California, have a 1969 Toyota Landcruiser and recently bought a 1958 Dodge fire engine (recently retired like myself) so I have a lot of projects to keep me busy.

Welcome Aaron from a PA retired (trying to) wrench turner, pilot and gadget guy. I too have gotten hooked on the metal gluing bug. Enjoy your stay and questions are more than welcomed with great responses and help by everyone.
